Starting in May, United Airlines will begin nonstop summer service from Chicago to Rome. Flights commence May 16 at a frequency of five flights per week until June 3, then daily until August 17 and six times a week until Sept. 23.
“United operates more nonstop trans-Atlantic service from Chicago O’Hare than any other airline, and these new flights to Rome are a great addition to our route network,” said Brian Znotins, United’s vice president of network, in a statement. “The flights have been conveniently timed to connect at our O’Hare hub to destinations throughout the Americas, and will offer United customers additional convenient options for travel to Italy this summer.”
United said it has timed these flights to coordinate with existing connections in Chicago and Rome. Outbound Flight 970 on the Boeing 777 aircrafts leaves Chicago at 6 p.m. local time and arrives at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport at 10:30 a.m. the next day; returning Flight 971 out of Italy departs Rome at 12:45 PM and arrives at O’Hare Airport at 4:25 PM the same day. United will also offer seasonal service from Newark Liberty Airport to Venice daily from June 4 to Sept. 23 on Boeing 767 aircrafts.
United currently offers nonstop seasonal service from Newark and Washington Dulles to Rome, as well as year-round nonstop flights from Newark to Milan.
