For anyone who loves Italian fashion or Italian shoes, the Ferragamo Museum in Florence is already a must-visit. Yet there’s even more reason to visit this fall and winter – a chance to celebrate the life and fashion of Marilyn Monroe on the 50th anniversary of her death
The exhibit, which runs through January 28, 2013, pays special attention to Monroe’s devotion to Ferragamo shoes. Monroe once said, “Give a girl gthe right shoes and she can conquer the world.” On display – some of the dozens of pairs of shoes Ferragamo created for Monroe in the 1950s. She wore the 4-inch heels in many movies including Some Like It Hot.
Also part of the special exhibit: dozens of outfits that Monroe wore in her movies, Monroe’s datebook and some diary entries giving insight into her private life, photos of Monroe taken by greats like Cecil Beaton and Burt Stern, Andy Warhol’s work Four Marilyns in Black (on loan from the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh). Entrance fee is 5 euros.
