Visitors can approach the Amalfi Coast in different ways to gain different perspectives on the mountainous coastline: by sea, by land and, soon, by soaring through the air on a new 650-meter (2,132-foot, or 0.4-mile) zipline.
The zipline is currently being installed in the gorge between the towns of Furore and Conca dei Marini, and will open on May 23. Nicknamed the “Angel’s Flight,” it will connect the mountain and the coast, giving adventurous visitors spectacular views of both the sparkling blue sea and the green fjords and hillsides on their flight.
Zipline Italia will offer both daytime and sunset flights for 40€, as well as nighttime flights on select days. Riders will wear a harness attaching them to the cable, which is equipped with a gradual braking system to prevent abrupt stops.
The project is part of an initiative to bring some development and tourist activity to the hilly areas of the Amalfi Coast, which are usually inaccessible, and to squeeze more fun into the crowded region. In addition to the zipline, the Amalfi Coast is offering adventure activities such as cliff diving, rock climbing, canyoneering and bungee jumping.
