Did you hear the news? George Clooney, Italy’s most-famous part-time resident has bought another home in Tuscany. Clooney is often spotted by the paparazzi as he comes and goes from his 30-room Villa Oleandra near Bellagio on Lake Como. Now he may have found a more private Italian hideaway – a villa in Tuscany. Clooney has reportedly bought an estate in the less-famous Lunigiana area of the region.
Maybe Sting, probably Italy’s second most-famous part-time resident, told him to move down the boot. He and wife Trudie Styler own Il Palagio near the medieval town of Figline Valdarno in Tuscany. The 900-acre estate produces wine, olive oil and honey. The power couple also rent out the estate for events and lavish vacations.
Colin Firth, the British actor better known as Mr. Darcy from the Bridget Jones movie, lives in London but retreats to Umbria anytime he can with his Italian-born wife and their two children.
French actor Gerard Depardieu is partial to the region of Puglia, in the heel of Italy. He owns an apartment in the stunning Baroque city of Lecce. In fact, he got in a bit of trouble lately for supposedly dumping water on the patrons of the bar below his apartment. He is in a dispute with the bar owner about noise levels.
British actress Helen Mirren is also a fan of Puglia but she’s partial to the countryside. Mirren recently restored a 500-year-old estate outside of Lecce.
And many many celebrities who haven’t made the plunge to buy an Italian home, still rank Italy as their favorite vacation spot!

George Clooney must really love Italy for buying another home in the country. Can’t blame him though, Italy is really a beautiful place.
