Visiting Venice This Summer? Do You Know The Etiquette?
Published on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 by

venice-peopleVenice receives an average of 80,000 visitors per day. That’s a staggering number considering Venice only has 60,000 permanent residents. And how to get them all the behave in such a small space? With rules of etiquette…

The city of Venice is starting an initiative called ‘Venice Yours Too, Respect It’ with a list of 10 guidelines for respecting the city.

According to Gazzetta del Sud, “Guidelines on Venetian decorum will be posted around the city as well as within a variety of local businesses that cater to tourists. They will be printed in seven languages: Italian, English, Spanish, Japanese, French, Russian and German.”

The newspaper also reports, ” (the guidelines) encourage visitors to throw away trash, avoid wearing bathing suits in the city center, not to feed pigeons nor buy knock-offs from street vendors.”
